Fundamentals of Management Ethics Development Programme
We have laws, regulations and organisation policies, but they don’t guarantee ethical behaviour. Ethics is personal and rarely simple; it’s about individuals finding, and refining, their sense of responsibility to others.
The public’s perception of what is ethical and responsible is constantly evolving, and not necessarily related to whether the current rules are followed, as many of our politicians discovered to their cost. That’s why this programme focuses on the unchanging fundamentals of ethics, not constantly changing rules and regulations. If you need to develop a deeper ethical understanding for yourself, or your organisation, the programme provides you with the tools to consider any aspect of ethics in your professional and personal lives.
The Programme
The central focus is an 'ethics of responsibility' informed by the philosophy of Emanuel Levinas and the Quaker business ethos.
The programme is a blend of concepts and tools, class and group discussion, and application in the real world. A number of case studies cover the most prominent workplace ethical issues. A significant amount of the time is spent working on a personal project and you will get most out of the programme if this is based on an area of interest to you, especially one that helps in your professional life.
The programme is held over an extended period (two or six months) to provide time between learning sessions for information gathering and reflection. At the end of the programme you will;
- understand the main concepts and themes of management ethics,
- know how to approach any ethical challenge,
- have a deeper understanding of your own ethics, and
- deliver a tangible outcome via your personal project
