Quaker Council for European Affairs seeks new British Committee members
We have been contacted by Richard Seebohm, Assistant Clerk for the British Committee of the Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA).
QCEA are looking for new members for their Committee. Could you be of service?
This is what Richard says to us:
‘Facing a change in Brussels Representatives during 2012, the Committee is losing its Clerk (on retirement after long service) and is relatively short of members. The role of the Committee as reported to the Charity Commission is:
The British Committee works to raise awareness and understanding among British Quakers about the work of QCEA, and thus encourages them to support it. British Committee also receives, records and invests financial contributions from British Friends for QCEA, transmits funds to Brussels and acts as sterling banker for QCEA's sterling transactions.
We meet three times a year (currently on a Saturday in Friends House) and our Clerk is on the Council of QCEA itself. We are a self-nominating charity, but in discussion with Friends House about this. We had a financial surplus in 2011 and our Treasurership (to be frank) is in safe hands at present. We run promotional events in the UK from time to time, and take study tours to Brussels when QCEA itself is not running one.
Our retiring Clerk (William Waddilove) has prepared a ‘Clerk's manual' of what he or she is responsible for, which we can forward as required.’
